Newcomer Lana Condor has landed the role of Jubilation Lee, best known as Jubilee in X-Men: Apocalypse.
Jubilee is a popular mutant from the 'X-Men' and 'Generation X' comic books with the power to generate pyrotechnic energy blasts from her hands. She is often illustrated wearing a yellow trench coat and pink glasses. The character often plays a sidekick to Wolverine.
Director Bryan Singer made the official announcement on Instagram, "I'd officially like to welcome our newest mutant #JubilationLee, #Jubilee @LanaCondor to #XMEN #Apocalypse."
Jubilee had cameo appearances in 'X-Men' (2000), 'X2: X-Men United' (2003) and 'X-Men: The Last Stand' (2006) as a young student at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters.
Condor joins new additions Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, and Oscar Isaac as the ancient mutant supervillain Apocalypse/En Sabah Nur.
Set in the early '80s, 'X-Men: Apocalypse' will focus on the young cast featuring Charles Xavier (James McAvoy), Erik Lehnsherr (Michael Fassbender) and Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence). 'X-Men: Apocalypse' is set for release on May 27, 2016.
