The Wolverine to Film in Australia
20th Century Fox will shoot the highly anticipated X-Men Origins sequel The Wolverine, in Sydney, Australia. Prime Minister Julia Gillard and Arts Minister Simon Crean made the official announcement Friday. X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) was also filmed in Australia.
Sydney is standing in for Japan in The Wolverine and cameras are set to roll in August with James Mangold directing and Hugh Jackman reprising his role as Logan, the adamantium clawed mutant Wolverine.
To attract the film to Australia, the Gillard Government granted the producers a one-off payment of $12.8 million which will result in the Fox production spending more than $80 million in the country and create more than 2000 jobs.
