Update: Felicity Jones Cast as 'Amazing Spider-Man 2' Baddie
Cosmopolis star Sarah Gadon is joining 'The Amazing Spider-Man' franchise, and it comes on the heels of Shailene Woodley's role as Mary Jane Watson (Divergent, The Spectacular Now), being cut out of The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Woodley shot a few scenes for the film but her character won't appear until the third film in the series. "I made a creative decision to streamline the story and focus on Peter and Gwen and their relationship," director Marc Webb said in a statement.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight Canada, Sarah Gadon revealed that she will be joining the franchise in an unknown role. It's also been rumored that actress Felicity Jones (Like Crazy) may be playing the character Felicia Hardy aka Black Cat in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Sony Pictures Entertainment recently announced the next three 'The Amazing Spider-Man' films will be released on May 2, 2014, June 10, 2016, and on May 4, 2018.
Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx and Paul Giamatti star in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. In the film, Peter Parker must juggle fighting crime, high school and his relationship with Gwen Stacy (Stone). Spider-Man faces off against a new villain, Electro (Foxx) and Peter sees the return of an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan).
Update: Felicity Jones has confirmed that she will be playing a "baddie" in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. "It's TOP secret. I can tell you that she's sort of on the baddie's side, but I can't explain much more than that," she told the Belfast Telegraph. "Just the scale was incredible. It's a different challenge to be on an enormous set, surrounded by hundreds of extras, as opposed to just being 20 people in the room."
