Former 'Homeland' and 'Firefly' star Morena Baccarin has landed the female lead in Deadpool, based on the Marvel Comics character.
Baccarin will star opposite Ryan Reynolds, who is playing the title character. Gina Carano and T.J. Miller are already attached to the project.
In 'Deadpool', Ryan Reynolds plays an assassin named Wade Wilson who undergoes a procedure to cure his cancer that ends up leaving him twisted and scarred but also imbued with superpowers.
Baccarin will play Ryan Reynolds love interest. The character grapples with falling for a man with a hideously scarred face.
Tim Miller is directing the superhero film from a script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.
Baccarin currently guest stars on The CW's Gotham and will next appear in Paul Feig's upcoming action-comedy Spy, opposite Melissa McCarthy.
