John Travolta Joins American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson
John Travolta has joined the cast of American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson. Travolta will star as O.J. Simpson defense attorney Robert Shapiro in the first installment of Ryan Murphy's new anthology miniseries for FX.
"American Crime Story" will dramatize the infamous murder trial of former NFL star turned murder defendant O.J. Simpson from the perspective of the lawyers on both sides of the case. The 10-part miniseries is based on the book "The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson" by Jeffrey Toobin.

Already announced cast members include 'American Gangster's' Cuba Gooding Jr. as O.J. Simpson, 'American Horror Story's' Sarah Paulson as relentless prosecutor Marcia Clark and David Schwimmer as Simpson defense attorney Robert Kardashian.
"American Crime Story" will be Travolta's first regular series role since he rose to stardom as Vinnie Barbarino in the 1970s sitcom 'Welcome Back, Kotter'. He is the latest in a growing list of film stars who have migrated to the small screen in recent years, including the late Robin Williams (The Crazy Ones, CBS), Dustin Hoffman (Luck, HBO), Matthew McConaughey (True Detective, HBO), Clive Owen (The Knick, Cinemax) and Kevin Spacey (House of Cards, Netflix).
