Aaron Taylor-Johnson Confirmed as Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron

Kick-Ass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson has closed a deal to play Quicksilver in director Joss Whedon's upcoming superhero sequel Avengers: Age of Ultron, reports The Wrap. Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass 2, Godzilla) has been the frontrunner to play Quicksilver since June 7, but he didn't close his deal until Wednesday. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Pietro Maximoff aka Quicksilver has the power of superhuman speed. In Marvel Comics, Quicksilver is the twin brother of Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch and has been a prominent member of The Avengers rotating roster. Taylor-Johnson will join the film's returning cast, including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Chris Hemsworth along with James Spader as Ultron and Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch. In the follow-up to Marvel Studios' worldwide blockbuster The Avengers, Iron Man (Downey Jr.), Captain America (Evans), Thor (Hemsworth), Hulk, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver assemble to defeat the rogue sentient robot Ultron (Spader), dedicated to conquest and the extermination of humanity.
