Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions are in talks with Alec Baldwin, and have cast Swedish actress Rebecca Ferguson in Mission: Impossible 5.
Alec Baldwin is in talks to make his first return to the world of espionage/spy thrillers since his career-making role as Jack Ryan in 1990's The Hunt for Red October.
The actor would play the head of the CIA in Mission: Impossible 5 being directed by Jack Reacher helmer Christopher McQuarrie. Rebecca Ferguson, star of the Starz TV mini-series The White Queen, has been set to play the female lead opposite Tom Cruise.
Baldwin and Ferguson join an already-announced cast that includes Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol's Jeremy Renner and Simon Pegg reprising their roles.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but you can bet I.M.F (Impossible Missions Force) agent Ethan Hunt (Cruise) chooses to accept another mission that takes him and his team of secret agents around the world to stop an elusive and extremely dangerous villain who poses a global threat.
The fifth installment of Paramount's Mission: Impossible film franchise features a screenplay by Drew Pearce and Will Staples. Mission: Impossible 5 hits theaters on December 25, 2015.
