Apple Announces iPad Mini, 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display, 4th Gen iPad, Fusion Drive

Today Apple made a number of exciting announcements at a special press event. The company unveiled the iPad Mini tablet, the 4th generation iPad, a new 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display and a redesigned iMac with an optional "Fusion Drive".

The 7.9-inch iPad Mini features a 1,024 x 768 resolution display and Apple's new, all-digital and smaller Lightning connector. The iPad Mini will start at $329 for the Wi-Fi 16GB model up to $659 for the the Wi-Fi + Cellular 64GB configuration. Pre-orders begin Friday Oct. 26.

The new 4th generation iPad adds Apple's new A6X chip with quad-core graphics, an upgraded 720p HD Facetime camera, 2x faster Wi-Fi connection and Apple's Lightning connector. The new iPad 4 is priced the same as the iPad 3, starting at $499 for the 16GB model.

The all new 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display features a 2,560 x 1,600 resolution display, 2 Thunderbolt ports, HDMI out, as well as a pair of USB 3s. The base model will start at $1,699 for the 2.5GHz i5 processor, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of flash storage.

Apple's next-generation iMac loses its optical drive but gains a slimmer design, 720p HD front camera, Intel's Ivy Bridge Core i5 and Core i7 processors, NVIDIA's GeForce 600 Series GPU, 1080p 21.5-inch and 27-inch, 2,560 x 1,400 displays.

In addition, the new iMacs are available with Apple's new optional "Fusion Drive". The 768GB SSD hybrid drive mixes both flash storage with conventional hard drive storage. The 21.5-inch base model starts at $1,299 and will arrive in stores this November.
