Ghost in the Shell: Michael Pitt Lands Villain Role
Michael Pitt (Boardwalk Empire) has landed the villain role in the live-action film adaptation Ghost in the Shell, based on the Japanese manga and beloved 1995 anime movie.
Pitt will play a hacker known as the Laughing Man. The character made his first appearance in the series Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.
Scarlett Johansson stars as a cyborg agent in the elite Section 9 security force that deals in the most dangerous cyber criminals.
The sci-fi movie is being produced by Avi Arad (The Amazing Spider-Man 2), Ari Arad (Iron Man) and Steven Paul (Tekken: Kazuya's Revenge).
In 2008, DreamWorks and Steven Spielberg acquired the rights to produce a live-action film adaptation of the original manga.
