McG to Direct The Mortal Instruments TV Series Adaptation
McG has signed on to executive produce and direct the pilot episode of Shadowhunters, ABC Family's TV series adaptation of 'The Mortal Instruments'.
McG, best known for directing 'Charlie's Angels' and 'Terminator Salvation', also served as executive producer on The CW's 'Nikita' and 'Supernatural'.
'Shadowhunters' is based on the best-selling young adult book series by Cassandra Clare that inspired the 2013 fantasy drama The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (2013).
The story follows 18-year-old Clary Fray, who finds out on her birthday that she is not who she thinks she is but rather comes from a long line of Shadowhunters – human-angel hybrids who hunt down demons.
When her mother Jocelyn is kidnapped, Clary is thrown into the world of demon hunting with mysterious Shadowhunter Jace and her best friend, Simon. Now living among faeries, warlocks, vampires and werewolves, Clary begins a journey of self-discovery as she learns more about her past and what her future may hold.
'Shadowhunters' is slated to go into production in May in Toronto.
