Rose Byrne to Return for X-Men: Apocalypse
Screenwriter Simon Kinberg, has confirmed that Rose Byrne will reprise her role as CIA agent Moira MacTaggert in X-Men: Apocalypse.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, "Apocalypse" writer and producer Simon Kinberg says, "She's a significant character in the movie." "We ended First Class with Charles having wiped portions of her memory of her experience with the X-Men. They are, essentially, strangers to her when she meets them." Apocalypse is set in the early '80s, roughly 20 years after First Class, and Kinberg is mum about how she ties into the film. But expect to see further developments in her interaction with Professor Xavier. "It's certainly a rich relationship that we started to dig into in First Class, and would like to mine more in this one," teases Kinberg.
Byrne played Moira MacTaggert in X-Men: First Class (2011). Actress Olivia Williams first portray the character onscreen in 'X-Men: The Last Stand' (2006). The character was created by Chris Claremont and Dave Cockrum, and first appeared in Uncanny X-Men #96 (December 1975).
In the X-Men comic books, Moira MacTaggert was one of the world's leading authorities on genetic mutation. She was the longest running non-mutant associate of the X-Men and was Professor Charles Xavier's colleague and also once his fiancée.
